1. Suppose a coin toss turns up 12 heads out of 30 trials. Can one determine the coin toss is fair?

Ha:p not= .5

Looks really good. p=.5 is the expected outcome. Your alternative hypothesis is everything that the null hypothesis is not, allowing for the possibility that the die in question has a p greater or smaller than 0.5.
