We explore space by sending sending robots that can withstand the outer space enviroment.

Also by taking pictures of planet’s surfaces and or outer space, with satellite cameras. (The robots that roam planet’s surfaces; are called space probes.), We don’t know how to space travel, actually with real human beings, yet. Though, the best travel was with Neil Armstrong and such; whom has went to the moon, in the flesh.

http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/satellites-and-space-probes should help. 1: We don't even know how to journey deep waters, (which have the similar surroundings as outer space, dark, cold, and high pressure.). We need to find out a way to maintain oxygen and such.. 2: It takes a long time just to get to a planet, then back.
