Will Medal. Finding the surface area of a square pyramid. http://prntscr.com/adatni I have gotten mixed answers on what the formula is for it, but I also know I need to some how do something with the slant height. Thanks ~gottennis121

OpenStudy (im.new):

multiply all of the numbers

OpenStudy (im.new):

7x7 is 49

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

I'm not sure I trust that answer...

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so...hmmm what's the area of THAT triangle there, the one to the left?

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

8.7 x 7 = 60.9. Then divide by 2, that equals 30.45

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok.. so 30.45 notice, the pyramid is really just 4 triangles and one square stacked up to each other at the edges so 30.45 for one triangle, you have 4 of them thus 30.45+ 30.45+ 30.45+ 30.45+ "the square " or 7x7

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

So I'd do, 30.45 x 4, + 7 x 7?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

I got 170.8.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

Thanks!
