Animal Farm is written for the purposes of being an analogy for a historical event, not an emotional narrative with richly developed characters and relationships. And yet at the same time it mirrors the Communist worldview - each person is merely another part of the mass, a cog in the wheel. They exist to till farms and be exploited.
