Can anyone please check my answers for subject verb agreement questions?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

@Awolflover1 @Redneckgirl1224 @rebeccaxhawaii

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

In which sentence does the verb agree with the subject? A. Fish and a turtle lives in the pond near my house. B. Cauliflower and broccoli grows well in the garden. C. Squirrels and a rabbit live in our yard. <--

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

@Ruby-Gloom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again, I think you have the right answer. I can't really explain how, except the verb goes along and makes sense with the subject.

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

wait i already did that question .. this one was A? In which sentence does the verb agree with the subject? A. Every soup and salad cost less than five dollars. <-- B. My friend and her mother laughs at all my jokes. C. Each plate and bowl has a spot in the cupboard.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe this one is incorrect. You see, the verb does blend in well with the subject on this one. It's not A. Try to repeat the sentance in your head and see if it sounds right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Doesn't blend in well*

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

well some of them dont sound right to me but i chose it because my book said the verb agrees with the word closest to it, so if the word is plural then the verb is plural and vice versa for singular

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

so C is what im thinking then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, same here. It makes most sense to me. But, if that's wrong, I'd go with A next as it makes sense more than B.

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

In which sentence does the verb agree with the subject? A. Both peaches and plums was on sale at the grocery store. B. Either strawberries or an apple are a healthful choice for a snack. C. Either the cantaloupe or the watermelon is ripe enough to eat. <--

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

well heres the thing if i get it wrong there will be different questions so i cant go with a different answer lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh... Plato...?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

plato?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind... But, yes. You got it on the last one you posted. (C)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

In which sentence does the verb agree with the subject? A. Neither braids nor a ponytail keeps my hair out of my eyes. B. Dominoes or a board game are a good choice for tonight. C. Either Mom or Dad cook dinner for the family each night. <--

OpenStudy (malijhaa):

C.
