Point E is located at (2, -3) and point F is located at (-2, -1). Find the y value for the point that is the distance from point E to point F. (5 points) 1.75 0.5 -2 -1.5

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

@zepdrix

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

@freckles

OpenStudy (welshfella):

is this half the distance between point E and point F?

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

i dont understand

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you say ' the point that is the distance' which does not make sense - something must go into the blank space.

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

ohhh sorry right between "that is" and "the distance" is 3/4

OpenStudy (welshfella):

I'm trying to remember the formula.. the line is divided in the ratio 3:1 so the y coorddinate = 3(-1) + 1(-3) ----------- 1 + 3 can you work that out?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

= (-3 - 3) / 4 = what?

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

-6/4

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Ok now do the division and you have the answer

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

so -1.5

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

i get its

OpenStudy (welshfella):

correct

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

hey do u think you can help me with another question

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes but plz do another post

OpenStudy (dyann.cardona):

oh okay
