OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

What is the remainder when 15,908 is divided by 13?

563blackghost (563blackghost):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

Idk im guessing 1223.69

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The entire point of a remainder is to eliminate decimals You have to do actual long division to get it Or you could do 1223 times 13 and find the difference between that and15908

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Btw you are correct in that decimal approximation value of 1223.69

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

use a calc

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

i got 1223.692308

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah but you can't use that You need a remainder not decimals

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

yea

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

would it be 1223?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what I recommend doing is 1223 x 13 What would that be? No the answer is not 1223

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

15899

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now you can do 15908-15899 to get the remainder

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

9

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

OHHHHHHHHHHHH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This works because 1223 is the number of times 13 goes into 15908 evenly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep that's the answer

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

Wow, thanks for having patience with me :D LOL tyyyysmm

OpenStudy (ggdvaaa):

Wow, thanks for having patience with me :D LOL tyyyysmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
