Identifying Solutions in Inequalities

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

\(\huge -15 \ge \frac{x}{4} + x\) \(\large \text{and}\) \(\huge 2x - \frac{7x}{8} > -27\)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how far did you get with this?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

No where because of the several \(x\)'s that are in the inequalities. I just need to make sure that I only have one variable, \(x\), and the rest I can do.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the fractions are probably throwing you off?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Yes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I hate fractions too and try to get rid of them whenever I can. To do this with equations or inequalities, you can multiply both sides by the LCD this will clear out the denominators for example |dw:1457659912902:dw|
