A cube has edge length 16 in. If the edge length of the cube is halved, what happens to the surface area? I am stuck between picking "it's multiplied by 4" or; "it's doubled by itself"

OpenStudy (officialbluemonster):

DIS IS A COPY OF PEERANSWER jk they copied this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

....

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

nope

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

Whatever the equation of the Surface area of a cube take the value that measures the edge length and replace with edge/2. Then determine how that affects the surface area.

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

remember. ur dividing 2 not multiplying 2

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

when u calculate suface area, you end uo with a square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Surface area would be 1,536.

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

What is 1/2 squared?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I take 16/2? So 8? and I use 8?

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

WHAT IS 1/2 SQUARED!?!?!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know?!?!?!? 0.5? 25? something like that?

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

1/2*1/2 is 1/4 ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 25. 1/4

OpenStudy (plasmataco):

now, that also coincidentaly is ur answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That isn't a choice on the question.
