Will fan and medal! Gold in the form of solid cylinders will be molded into solid blocks. Each cylinder has a diameter of 6.19 cm and a height of 6 cm. Each solid block will have a volume of 360 cm³. How many cylinders of gold will it take to mold one block of gold? a. 1 b. 2 c. 3 d. 4 e. 5

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

Whats the formula to get the volume of the cylinders, then divide your answer by 360^3 . I'm pretty sure that's how you'll get your answer.

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

One sec.

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

Volume of a cylinder = pi*r²*h

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

OK give me time to work on it now.

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

So: 3.14*3.095*6

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

58.3098

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

I got 360/58.3098=6.1739

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

Sane here so we clearly both got it wrong. :/ Sorry haven't done volume in a while.

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

But i still think you'd need to find the volume and then divide your answer into 360. cylinders/blocks

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

Wait.

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

We were supposed to square the radius, not divide by 2.

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

*face palm

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

3.14*3.095²*

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

6

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

That's the same equation.

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

180.56036

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

1.99379

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

Answer ^

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

rounds to 2

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

Yup. Thanks for your help!

OpenStudy (bezerkhd):

You didn't need it, I just said what you're supposed to do. You did the work. Good Job!

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

Thank you.
