OpenStudy (song_of_the_sole):

i dont really understand ratios. Can someone help me please.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Ratios? What do you mean?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Well, it is basically one item to another.

OpenStudy (song_of_the_sole):

in class today we are learning ratios, and i dont really get it, i dont know how to solve them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, ratios are basically fractions. They represent a portion to a portion. For example, let's say I have some cleaning solution. It need to mix in 10 cups of water per 1 cup of solution. I could make this as 10:1, or 1:10. I could even do 100:10, or 1000:100. Do you understand this?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

got any specifics for it?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Juny has 4 blue marbles, and 6 red marbles.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

what is the blue marbles to the red marbles?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

4:6. Its like saying blue number: red number

OpenStudy (song_of_the_sole):

yah i watched a brain pop like that one... it kinda makes sense but i still dont quit get them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This may help

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

But if it says total of marbles to red what do you do? 4 + 6 (red and blue) : (just red) 6

OpenStudy (song_of_the_sole):

so if a ratio is put to an angle how would i solve it to find the degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have a specific example I could use?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

@song_of_the_sole if I give you $2 and give your sister $6, then she has $6 and you $2 :) now, if I give you another $4 and your sister $12 or if I give you $6 and give her $18 notice, your sister is getting three times as much as you so, the RATIO or proportion from her to you 3 to 1, that is she gets three times more than you do or a ratio of 3:1 or 3/1
