Dehydration of an alcohol: After the distillation process, where cyclohexanol will be dehydrated using H3PO4 to form cyclohexene..... I am supposed to draw out 3 reactions.... I am confused as to how. These are reactions that can be used to indicate the presence of double bonds. 1. place 10 drops of cyclohexanol in each of the small test tubes. Place 10 drops of the cyclohexene that you prepared in each of another pair of test tubes. 2. Take one test tube from each pair and add several drops of a solution of bromine in methylene chloride 3. to the remaining pair of test tubes, add 2 mL of 95% ethanol. Then add a few drops of a 1% solution of potassium permanganate. @photon336 @rushwr @aaronq
