Help please really need help, don't understand. Will medal Stephanie has been putting money in her savings account for the last year. The graph shows data about Stephanie's savings account over time. (coordinate graph) Which is a reasonable inference for the amount of money Stephanie had in her savings account at month 13? A. $600 B. $650 C. $750 D. $800 https://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1417000_1417500/1417244/2/667cd8fe92bbed20d786a6aec5063a632de9fec3/MS_PA_130905_170050.jpg

A. $600 seems like the best answer here. If not, I would go with B.

This question raises a very important point about graphs and charts: Is it 'reasonable' to extrapolate this data to month 13? It is evident they want you to extend the straight line between the given points, and then read the value above 13 months BUT in my opinion this is a VERY poor question - there is NO reason to assume reasonably that her savings behaviour will continue - maybe she saved for a year, maybe she saved until she had nearly $500, maybe she was out of a job and couldn't afford to save anything in month 13. SOME types of data and graphs CAN be reasonably extrapolated but this is not one. That said - just draw a line through the dots and read up from 13 to get the answer they want.....

Good answer^

OpenStudy (mrnood):

You can lay a ruler on your screen to extrapoloate - I think @JustDoubleChecking has not been toooo accurate in his estimate... :-) Thanks for medal @JustDoubleChecking

No problem.
