Help meee!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Questions here.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

that is a tetrahedron which has 4 triangular faces. How many edges and vertices has it got?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

You cant see eall the edges and vertices - but use your imagination .

OpenStudy (welshfella):

You can see 5 edges right?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Yeah

OpenStudy (welshfella):

how many do you think are hidden ? remembering each face is a triangle

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

hmmm 5?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

another 5!! I dont think so..

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the base has 3 - so how mant edges on the sides?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

|dw:1457810438736:dw|

OpenStudy (welshfella):

drawing it should help

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

4?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@welshfella

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Look at this solid. How many vertices?

Directrix (directrix):

@TylerMckinney16

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

6?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Count again.

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

ok

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Ohhh 4

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Vertices: 4 Yes

Directrix (directrix):

From welshfella above: 4 faces 5 edges 4 vertices -> your count

Directrix (directrix):

Show the Euler's Formula holds true for this polyhedron. F + V − E = 2 Substitute in for F, V and E using the values from above.

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

4+4-5?

Directrix (directrix):

F + V − E = 2 4 + 4 - 6 = 2 2 = 2 The tetrahedron has 6 edges. I should have checked rather than picking up the 5 earlier in the post. 5 is not the number of edges. It is 6 edges.

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

So thats what the answer is?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@Directrix
