Mathematics 7 Online
Atsie (atsie):

What is the step by step way to figure this out? I'd so very much appreciate some help! :) (problem below)

Atsie (atsie):

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

So it's, Seven less than a number t = another number r plus 6 Let's do the right side part, that seems easier, What's the mathematically symbol to represent r plus 6?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

7<t = r+6 do you think it same ?

Atsie (atsie):

r + 6 ? @FortyTheRapper

Atsie (atsie):

I mean, you asked what was the mathematical symbol....is that what you were looking for or did I miss something?

OpenStudy (photon336):

@Atsie 7 less than means subtraction so 7 less than a number t means. t - 7 = equals a number r plus 6 plus = addition. r+6 = t-7

Atsie (atsie):

Alright, so if that is the full equation...then how do I set about finding the answer?

OpenStudy (photon336):

the idea is to get t by itself

OpenStudy (photon336):

t-7 = r+6

OpenStudy (photon336):

how would you get t by itself @Atsie

Atsie (atsie):

I'm not precisely sure.... we have to factor t out....so we multiply right?

OpenStudy (photon336):

so take a look at this. all we have to do is add 7 to both sides. t-7 = r + 6 +7 +7 so now we've got an expression for t in terms of r t = r + 13

Atsie (atsie):

*facedesk* Oooh. I over-complicated it in my head. THank you so much. I understand now!!

OpenStudy (photon336):

yep, yeah just make sure you say like what's the simplest way to do the problem and translate stuff as you go.

Atsie (atsie):

Thank you for your assistance. I appreciate it! ^.^

OpenStudy (photon336):

no problem
