ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

now what we have to figure out here is what number increased by 28 percent is equal to 512

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

i think @jdoe0001 can help from here :)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well she invested ... some amount, whatever that was, her stock went up to 512 so.. .we know that, the amount she had before was say "something" that was 100% and 512 is just 100% plus the added quantity, to give 100% + 28% thus 512 is 128% of the original amount so, if 512 is the 128%, what was the original amount anyway? \(\begin{array}{ccllll} amount&\% \\\hline\\ 512&128\\ x&100 \end{array}\implies \cfrac{512}{x}=\cfrac{128}{100}\) solve for "x", to get, the original stock price, then just find the difference between 512 and that

OpenStudy (pphalke):

its 28% not 128
