OpenStudy (pphalke):

A home has a triangular backyard. The second angle of the triangle is 7 degrees more than the first angle. The third angle is 8 degrees more than three times the first angle. Find the angles of the triangular backyard

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Draw a triangle and label all 3 angles. Let the first angle be x. How would you lable the 2nd and 3rd angles?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

i don't know

OpenStudy (pphalke):

its driving me nuts

OpenStudy (mathmale):

this is a matter of algebra: representing quantities with letters and numbers both. Going to draw a diagram?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Have you used the Draw utility (below) before?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You can edit my drawing if you want, or you can draw a new triangle of your own.

OpenStudy (pphalke):

how do i label

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Are you able to edit my drawing? You obviously have to have somethign to label.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

" The second angle of the triangle is 7 degrees more than the first angle. The third angle is 8 degrees more than three times the first angle." Choose any one angle and label it x. Choose the next angle and label it x+7 (7 more than the first angle). Label the last angle. How would you do that algebraically? sorry, I need to get off the 'Net for 30 minutes, but will be back on by then, ....either I will continue to help you then or someone else may take over. You've got to label your diagram in such a way that i can see it.
