OpenStudy (anonymous):

A region experiences frequent landslides from heavy rains. How can the local residents lower the frequency of landslides in the region?

OpenStudy (fatir5):

By growing a large number of trees in that area.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

^ That requires an explanation, but it is solid reasoning. Growing multiple trees in an area creates roots that anchor the soil into the ground, preventing loose debris and dirt from being easily washed away/down an inclined slope.

OpenStudy (fatir5):

That's obvious I guess. But still nice effort @kittiwitti1

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Thank you! @fatir5 What I meant was that I'm not sure the site allows direct answers, but if the answer was obvious then it's okay. The credit still goes to you for answering first, anyway ^_^

OpenStudy (fatir5):

Thank You @kittiwitti1 I am honored :)
