Project :)
"You are planning to build a model rooftop storage tank for fire suppression. For the model, you will need a storage tank that lasts three minutes. You are given two designs. How tall does each of the storage tanks need to be? Greg's rooftop tank law states that the time rate of change o the Volume V of water in a draining tank is proportional to the square roof of the depth of the water in the tank. Experiment: (attached data that we gathered The math: set up and solve the separable differential equation."
one was a milk carton, one was a coke carton :)
"The write up: Write everything up in the same way you would a physics or chem lab. ie. describe experiment. Describe your mathematical model and how you solved your model. Did you make any assumptions? Draw a conclusion - perhaps you may want to compare your model with the actual data points. 1) what is the dependent variable? 2) what is the independent variable? 3) what is the parameter(s) and how could you change the parameter (what would change in the experiment)? 4) how many data points are needed to find an explicit formula for the relationship? why?
