a group of 22 students participated in a race. their scores are below: score(points): 5-6|6-7|8-9|10-11|12-13 number of students: 3 |5 |8 |4 |2 would a dot plot or a histogram best represent the data presented here? why?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

So they want us to decide between using a "dot plot" or a "histogram" right? :) I found this on how they are different: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120909082842AAbSmb1 "A dot plot is generally used with the exact data values listed along an axis and a dot for each data value above the axis. Then the exact data values can be read from the dot plot. Histograms show the frequencies of various ranges of data values rather than frequencies of individual data values."

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

In other words, if their score was ordered like: 3 students scored 5 points, 5 students scored 6 points, etc ^ this would be best represented in a "dot plot" because there is only \(one\) number related to the other number on the other hand, if we had 3 students scored between 5 and 6 points, 5 students scored between 6 and 7 points, etc ^ this would be best represented in a "histogram" because histograms work better when it is ranges ("between") involved rather than one number per one number does this make sense @Zayyyahh15 ? :)

OpenStudy (zayyyahh15):

yes thank you so much
