(will fan and medal cx) How does the strong history of immigration in the United States influence the kind of nation we have become? Since most Americans are descendants of immigrants, why do you think discrimination against today's immigrants persists? Do you think immigration should be restricted, or that it should be available to anyone who wants to move to America?

written response

OpenStudy (lyssakat):

Well it seems like this is more of a personal view. I, myself, believe immigration to America should be encouraged because that's how our country was founded. Straight up on freedom. We were never really accepting of other races and religions. We said we were but honestly, America started on white rebellious men who were trying to escape the strict 1 ruler government. We escaped and we should let others escape their harsh country ways like we did. Like people in the middle east, people are slaughtered and raped because they are women or because they are white. We should allow them to escape into our country. Not shut the gates in their faces.

OpenStudy (lyssakat):

Freedom was really to the white men BUT we at least got freedom of the strict laws. That's what made the right to bare arms. In case the government got out of control.
