Hayhayz (hayhayz):

I think it is 9.72

imqwerty (imqwerty):

yeah correct! :)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

this is a problem involving geometric sequences and geom. series. Please review those two topics. Draw a picture to make things clearer for yourself. What is the common ratio? What is the first term of this sequence or series?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

did you do it the way we did the previous problem? :)

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

I got the equation 3-3x0.7^10 / 1-0.7

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If you'd please share all of your work, you'd get more meaningful feedback than if you just present an answer for confirmation. Write out the formula for the nth sum of a geometric series. That's the basis for this work.

imqwerty (imqwerty):

yes that is correctt just applied a little latex to your equation- \(3 \left( \large \frac{1-0.7^{10}}{1-0.7} \right)\)

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

\[3-3*0.7^{10}\div1-0.7\]

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Even better, please enclose that 1 - 0.7 in parentheses to eliminate ambiguity about order of operations.

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

yea lol i dont know how to do the latex.. but then i get 2.915.. divided by 0.3 and get 9.72 :)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I've found that it helps me a lot to sketch this situation.
