an obliquecone has a heihgt of 6 cm and a base with a radius of 8 cm. A right cone has a height of 6 cm and a diameter of 16 cm for its base. Which describes the volume of the oblique cone (Vo) compared with the volume of the right cone (Vr)

@JustDoubleChecking if you know, i would appreciate it :)

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

So it is 16 cm all the way across the base of the right cone right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah diameter of 16 cm for base

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

Ok, so do you know Cavalieri's Principle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its Vo=Vr correct?

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

It states that an oblique shape, as long as it has the same height and base, has the same volume as it's upright counterpart... So, in short, yes! The volume of the two are equal.

thank you! I appreciate the help, I understand all other subjects it seems like but Geometry is a mystery to me :p

OpenStudy (justdoublechecking):

No problem! Kepp up the good work! :D
