OpenStudy (qwertykingghlpo):

The area of a rectangular picture frame is given by the trinomial 3x^2 - 9x - 30

OpenStudy (qwertykingghlpo):

use factoring

OpenStudy (isaidavila):

First factor 3 3(x^2-3x-10)

OpenStudy (qwertykingghlpo):

ok

OpenStudy (isaidavila):

3(x-5)(x+2)

OpenStudy (qwertykingghlpo):

then what?

OpenStudy (isaidavila):

It all

OpenStudy (qwertykingghlpo):

Now let me check my answer choices and thank you. :)

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Finding the GCF is only the first step in this problem. \(3x^2 - 9x - 30\) We know that the GCF is 3 \(3(x^2 - 3x - 10)\) But then the trinomial that is inside of the parenthesis needs to be factored as well because it is still a quadratic within standard form (\(ax^2 + bx + c\)).
