Explain the grouping method of factoring. Describe a scenario when the grouping method would be preferred over other methods and provide an example of this type of problem. Graph one of your 2nd degree functions from question 1. Identify which function you used and the key features of your graph. Explain how to find them algebraically. Using your graph from question 4, explain whether the average rate of change is increasing or decreasing, from left to right. Justify your observations by comparing the slopes calculated between at least three different pairs of points.

Quite an interesting problem. Clearly, your instructor expects greater than average understanding of the concepts that this problem involves. I'd suggest that y ou begin by identifying any words in the problem statement whose meaning is not clear to you. We'll clear them up. Next suggestion wuold be that you find examples of actual factoring by grouping and share a couple of them, along with other examples of non-factoring-by-grouping problems. Then we'd have something to compare and contrast.

Please Google "factoring by grouping." You may be surprised by how much info is to be found there.
