The angles below are supplementary. What is the value of x? A pair of supplementary angles is shown. One angle measures 4x + 20, and the other angle measures 40. A. 5 B. 7.5 C. 15 D. 30
Question #1: What does "supplementary" mean in this context?
It means in the end It all has to equal 180
Its a type of angle
Given an angle x, the supplement of x must be 180-x degrees. That's the definition. Given the angle 30 degrees, find the supplementary angle.
Well first we should find what X is
I do it a weird way, but it works for me. :P So you know the angle total will be 180. You have 40 as one angle. You have another 20. That's 60. You have another 120 to go. Plug in on of the numbers at a time, and find which one equals 120. I can tell you it's no A or B. To check, plug in that answer into the equation as x. :)
Was there an illustration for this problem? If so, please share it. " One angle measures 4x + 20, and the other angle measures 40." These angles must sum up to 180 degrees. Write the equation that shows this.
