OpenStudy (faithspring):

what is the factored form? 9. 5x^2 – 13x – 6

OpenStudy (janu16):

(5x+2)(x-3)

alones (alones):

@Janu16 How did you get that..please explain

OpenStudy (janu16):

k so eqaution : 5x^2-13x-6 1) multiply 5 by -6 which is -30 2) what 2 numbers add up to -13 and multiply to -30

OpenStudy (janu16):

3) it would be 2 and -15 4) rewrite -13x as the sum of 3x and -15x

OpenStudy (janu16):

thats 5x^2+2x-15x-6

OpenStudy (janu16):

than factor out common terms in the first two terms then in the last two terms so you would have x(5x+2)-3(5x+2)

OpenStudy (janu16):

factor out the common terms 5x+2 so final answer is (5x+2)(x-3)

OpenStudy (janu16):

hope tht helps
