OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

What is the period of the function y = 3 csc x?

OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

@kayders1997

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

Did you try graphing it?

OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

i dont know where csc is

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Well lets see 1/sin is csc

OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

so how would would i type it in?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

3/sinx

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

What type of calculator do you have?

OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

TI-84

OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

I TYPED IT IN BUT I STIL DONT KNOW WHATS ITS ASKING

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

I totally forgot how periods work for csc sec cot graphs :O

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Well a period is where its going through one cycle, like the period of cos is 2pi I believe because thats one full cycle than it starts all over again

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Let me graph it quick

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Make sure your calculator is in radian mode

OpenStudy (sunshinehaggard):

okay i just done that

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

Period differs from the amplitude and is not the wave length... So period is the full spectrum of the the function before it repeats.

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

It looks like one cycle is end up going to be 1/2pi because there are asymptotes at a lot of x values

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

like for sine the period is 2pi

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

The period in the case of csc is not going 1/2 pi

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

It doesnt look like its a full period I could get my trig notes from last year and lpok

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

Period will be the distance from the beginning of one big U in the graph to the very end of the U
