New Moon – When the illuminated side of the Moon is away from the Earth. The Moon and the Sun are lined up on the same side of the Earth, so we can only see the shadowed side. I believe its new moon? (Excuse my terrible mouse drawing OwO) The side that is illuminated from the sun is totally facing away from Earth, so the side that we see on earth is not illuminated at all :)
