OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Hello. How would I figure this out. Medal shall be given. The shortest sides of two similar polygons have lengths in the ratio 2:5. The perimeter of the smaller polygon is 20. The perimeter of the larger polygon is 50 100 125

OpenStudy (tacotime):

Well ratio means how two things are related and the easiest way to solve them is cross multiplication. \[\frac{ 2 }{ 5 } = \frac{ 20 }{ ? }\]

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

I was thinking 50 but I wasn't sure if this was one of those problems where it has an obvious answer that seems correct but isn't correct. I'm assuming it would be 50.

OpenStudy (tacotime):

50 is correct. I think they were trying to trick you by talking about "smallest sides" but it just means the shapes have the same ratio in perimeter too.

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Ah okay, thank you.
