Clarissa is 14 years old. Her brother, Luis, is 4 years more than half her age. Write a numerical expression that can be used to find Luis’s age, but do not find Luis's age. I am beyond confused due to the wording

OpenStudy (mathmale):

How old is Clarissa? How would you express "half Clarissa's age?" How would you express "4 years more than half Clarissa's age?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so she is 14 + 4 1/2 is what I thought, but it looks wrong to me.

Directrix (directrix):

>14 + 4 1/2 No You took 1/2 of the 4 but you are supposed to take 1/2 of Clarissa's age. Luis, is 4 years more than half her age. Luis: 4 + (1/2) * 14 @Okkaybee
