The graph below shows a system of equations:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The x-coordinate of the solution to the system of equations is __________.

OpenStudy (photon336):

This is simple, you can set the two equations equal to eachother and solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to do that

OpenStudy (photon336):

Of course you can look at the graph and see where they intersect but you won't always have the luxury of doing this. to find the point where they both intersect. you can set both equations equal to each-other. y = -x-2 y = 2x-5 so it becomes this -x-2 = 2x-5 can you slove for x now?

OpenStudy (er.mohd.amir):

simply see where lines cut each other what is value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=1

OpenStudy (er.mohd.amir):

yes x=1 and u can solve eq and get x=1 also

OpenStudy (photon336):

yeah, but just in case it's also a valuable skill to solve the equations algebraically too but either way is fine.

OpenStudy (dinamix):

@Er.Mohd.AMIR ty for expalin to him i was tell them that |dw:1458235663506:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is one right?

OpenStudy (dinamix):

@hockeybeast10 this easy why

OpenStudy (dinamix):

if the question gives u the gragh use that
