can someone help me with this Malcolm has $638.54 in his checking account. He must maintain a $500 balance to avoid a fee. He wrote a check for $159.50 today. Write and solve an inequality to solve for the least amount of money he needs to deposit to avoid a fee. 638.54 + 159.50 − x ≥ 500; x ≥ $298.04 638.54 + 159.50 − x ≤ 500; x ≤ $298.04 638.54 − 159.50 + x ≥ 500; x ≥ $20.96 638.54 − 159.50 + x ≤ 500; x ≤ $20.96

Hello @aimeelynettelord16 and Welcome to OpenStudy! :) Sorry for the late reply, but I will try to help you with your question ^_^ Malcolm starts with a positive \(638.54\) dollars in his account. He writes a check (which \(subtracts\) from his account) \(159.50\) dollars. He needs to \(add~x\) amount of money in order to keep his account value \(greater~than~or~equal~to~500\) dollars. Try converting the words I have made different into math expressions, that should get you to your answer :) If you still need help or need me to explain more, feel free to tag me with @sleepyhead314 :)
