Need help, thanks!! They are simply showing some examples ,but I don't understand why 12.7 is changed to 12.5 in (Step1): (12.5*3.40)+0.75=43.18+0.75=43.93 Jon filled up his car with 12.7 gal of gasoline. He paid $3.40 per gallon of gasoline, plus a 0.75 debit card fee. What percent of total price paid was the debit card fee? Step 1: Find the total cost (number of gallons * price per gallon) + debit card fee (12.5*3.40)+0.75=43.18+0.75=43.93

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, the total cost is what he paid for the gallons PLUS the debit card fee

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

but you already got it, :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But if I subtract 12.5 from 0.75 it comes out as 11.75

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok... so... why would you want to do that? )

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

tis 12.7 btw, you hmm used 12.5 but I assume it's just a typo, since 43.93 is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's an example though,(I didn't do this) I don't understand why 12.7 is changed into 12.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did they do a typo or something? I'm confused

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

a typo I'd think :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks Jdoe!

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

because it shouldn't 12.7 gallons at $3.4 is 12.7*3.4 plus 75cents of debit charge 12.7*3.4 + 0.75 = 43.93
