OpenStudy (pphalke):

Nico is saving money for his college education. He invests some money at 9% and $1400 less than that amount at 3%. The investments produced a total of $198 interest in 1 yr. how much did he invest at each rate? will fan and medal

OpenStudy (pphalke):

please help, I really need it

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Can you try to form an equation with RHS being the total?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

I cant I don't know how

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Let's assume x to be thr amount he invested at 9%. Then amount he deposited at 3% will be x-1400

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Now can you calculate interests of 9% and 3% in a year?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

i cant put this in an equation

OpenStudy (aravindg):

See for example in a month, the intetest for 9% will be (9/100)*x. So for a year it will be (9/100)*x*12. Can yoi do it for 3% now?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

is it 100/9 *12? I'm confused

OpenStudy (aravindg):

No. Try again.

OpenStudy (pphalke):

i don't know :(

OpenStudy (aravindg):

What is 3% os x-1400?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Of

OpenStudy (aravindg):

O.o

OpenStudy (aravindg):
