OpenStudy (jen543):

1 question? algebra?! Am I correct?

OpenStudy (jen543):

Solve 7v^2 + 49 = 105, where v is a real number Round your answer to the nearest hundredth If there is more than one solution, separate them with commas

OpenStudy (jen543):

I got the answer -2, 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm I don't believe that is correct

OpenStudy (jen543):

Had a feeling

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you have to put it all on the same side so you get \[7v^2-56=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then I would put it into quadratic formula\[x=\frac{ -0\pm \sqrt{0^2-4(7)(-56)} }{ 2(7) }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you simplify that you can get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And if in any situation you dont think your answer is correct just plug it back into the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the answer

OpenStudy (jen543):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well so did I @Huntingbolt but it's best if you let people figure it out for themselves

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what was your answer brill

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cus mine was v=2.82 and it was extended

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it also had a weird looking symbol when i tried to do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually there are 2 answers to this problem

OpenStudy (jen543):

Is the other answer 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me pls I really would like to know as I am curious myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 2.8 when i typed it in the chat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I sent you a pm huntingbolt And @Jen543 you can find out the answer if you simplify what I gave to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.8 was my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah 2.8 is truncated, it goes on forever so that's just rounded

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats a pm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you plug in 2.8 for x you can see that it's not quite 0 Pm is private message

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay
