Simplify square root 50x^4

OpenStudy (narissa):

\[\sqrt{50x ^{4}}\]

OpenStudy (aveline):

Cant't x^4 be simplified into \[x^2*x^2\] We can divide 50 up into 25*2. 25 can be rooted, right?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

50 is not a perfect square; 25 is. So, what are you going to do about that? Find sqrt(50) by separating it into two parts, one involving a perfect square, one not.

OpenStudy (narissa):

um \[5x^2 \sqrt{2}\] ?

OpenStudy (aveline):

Yes!

OpenStudy (narissa):

Thank you :)
