How do all of you study for finals? I study really hard but I don't think I study effectively, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips to study or to help me out on my exams!

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Well everyone is different but what i do if i am study for finals. - I start studying months before so that the information gets transferred into my long term memory so i am not cramming the week before. - If you teacher will allow it, but bring a recorder so that you can focus on the lecture and not be busy taking notes. Later, at home listen to it and then take notes. - Don't be afraid to ask your teacher a question or open study :D We are all here to help. - Finally, the biggest tip of all. DON'T STUDY EVERYDAY OR EVERY MINUTE. Your brain needs resting and studying everyday of every minute isn't good. What i did was i would study hard one day and take the next day off and do fun stuff and next day study again etc. *Depending on the circumstance, if you have a week for the test, then i would minimize that day to like hours instead, but that's mainly if you didn't study These were tips i got in my SLS class which is a class college readiness class for freshman students. Hope these tips help :D

The most important thing is not to cram. Study a chapter or so a week and write down the most important things on ONE sheet of paper. Go through that sheet every night before bed. Depending on the subject, doing practice problems and/or answering questions can be the most useful way to study. Also, don't study for more than an hour or so at once. If you do, your returns diminish quickly.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Well, you can always study more than 1hour a day :/ just take breaks in between :D Its proven that if you study with a group, it helps the learning process. if you want, ask your friends to bring questions of their own and you guess distribute each testes created by one another and answer them and see what you guess get and explain why you got it wrong etc etc :D -Hope this helps :D

I said an hour at once, not an hour a day.

NEVER EVER sit at a table and cram nonstop for more than 1 hour! It never works! Bring a glass and a small snack to your study place. Good luck on your finals! @victoriakal1
