Find the perimeter of the parallelogram shown. https://aoa.sooschools.com/media/g_pal_2015/7/img_parallelogram_quiz.gif a) 35 yd b) 24 yd c) 26 yd d) 40 yd

OpenStudy (mrnood):

since it is a parallogram you know that opposite sides are equal so you have 2 long sides and 2 short sides the "7 yd" dimension is NOT needed to solve this add up the 4 sides that you are given.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 26 so far ?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

that's it no 'so far' that is your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)

OpenStudy (mrnood):

np you need the "7 yd" if they ask you for the AREA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how could I find the area ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with the 7 yd ?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

what is the formula for area of parallelogram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a: b * h ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right ?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

A = h * b but h is the 7 yd and b is the 5 yd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is a: 7 * 5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 35 ?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

A = 7*5 what are the UNITS?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

35 yd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

35 yd squared

OpenStudy (mrnood):

no yds measure LENGTH area is in what units?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

yes - square yards is correct well done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for the help
