OpenStudy (kimberly_pr):

Calculate the average rate of change for the graphed sequence from n = 2 to n = 4.

OpenStudy (phi):

was the sequence (1,4), (2,8), etc ?

OpenStudy (kimberly_pr):

The sequence (points on the graph) is complicated :/ it's (1,-3) (2,-3.5) (3,-6.75) (4,-10.125) (5,-15.1875) (6,-22.78125)

OpenStudy (kimberly_pr):

@phi and @dinamix

OpenStudy (phi):

which points correspond to n=2 and n= 4 ? (I would choose the 2nd and the 4th!)

OpenStudy (phi):

the average rate of change is also the *slope* between those 2 points. do you know how to find the slope = change in y divided by change in x ?

OpenStudy (kimberly_pr):

Yes :) Give me a sec to try and solve this

OpenStudy (kimberly_pr):

I got -3.3125, which is one of the answers!! Thanks soo much :)

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, that looks good.
