I find this offensive
?
On the login page, it says "Thank God for OpenStudy. I achieved better grades and found new friends who supported me through four years of high school."
And?
And it takes God's name in vain.
No it does not lol
How?
Lol, it's the same thing as saying "OMG".
Yea...OMG is Oh.My.Gosh lol
I believe in God. Though OMG is offensive..
Gosh and God...same thing, people say Gosh because they think it doesn't sound as bad as God.
^ That is true...
Heck and Hell...same thing. Da m n and Darn...same thing.
^ yup
Yeah.. But I am still confused on how that saying On the login page, it says "Thank God for OpenStudy. I achieved better grades and found new friends who supported me through four years of high school." How is that offensive?
I liked the older log in page way better..
Saying "Thank God for OpenStudy".. God has nothing to do with OpenStudy and he doesn't care a single bit about it. That would be taking his name in vain.
It goes against the 3rd commandment for christians.
@Conqueror Me personally, I don't find that comment offensive. The user is just thanking God for OpenStudy. I mean, that's not using his name in vain.
God set people to create this site so I could talk to other people... People That I learned to like a lot. :)
^^
Well, from what the Bible says, the only thing he cares about is people believing in him.
they are not saying anything bad about Him, therefore it is not in vain. it is only bad when using Him as a swear word. such as "wth oh my g.." or "gawd damn it"
What if the person who said it isn't a christian ? Who are they referring to when they say that ?
well its not their site so its not there choice
if they dont like it no one is forcing them to continue here
Come on @Conqueror You are just trying to make a argument out of nothing.
Argument out of nothing ? For Christians, this is a biggy. God sends the reprobate to hell....
And when fellow Christians see that on the log-in page, they won't be too happy about the site.
No he doesn't. He sends those to hell who do not accept his free gift. @Dani_Rose Can I have some help here please lol
@Conqueror what are you trying to achieve here?
^^
I think that is where you are wrong... God cares about lots of things. He cares about his creations. The birds in the air....and lots more. I find this site AMAZING! :D
Don't you know who the reprobate are ? The unbelievers.
The creatures were directly created by god, not websites.
i just feel that if they want to word it like that its their right. its not our site no one is forcing the "non believers" to be here. & they are not using God's name in vain. I see no problem. & dont see what the big deal is
In the Bible it says not to take the Lords name in vain. God is not his name.@Conqueror
So you're saying God is not Lord ?
God made man! Man created lots of things.. Guess what... God made man to do things that bring glory back to God. :)
God is lord but his name is not God. God is a title
^^
Lord isn't a title ? Lol...
@Dani_Rose God and Lord is the same thing. They are both Him. Thats just like saying "damn it dani" or "damn it dani rose". they are both referring to you therefore still vain
^
@Conqueror Can we make a Question for this in the HippoCampus Religion?
Go ahead if you want, but this is my feedback about the login page.
Ok let me explain. Ares God of War. Ares is his name not God. He is the "God" of war . His name is not God
Yes
are you srsly gonna pick a fight about that ? its the same thing
@rebeccaxhawaii but no one said God Damm it? So whats your point?
Yes @rebeccaxhawaii i'm not saying that it's good to say OMG all i'm saying that it's not his name
@Dani_Rose Is correct...
Ares IS the god of war. That's a linking verb. "god" is the predicate nominative. @Dani_Rose If you don't know anything about Christianity, don't act like you do.
^
okay first off if you believe in ares then you dont believe in Jesus because if you were christian then there is only ONE god "In the Bible it says not to take the Lords name in vain. God is not his name" you said this therefore saying that its okay
I don't believe in Ares i don't believe in Mythology
THEN WHAT IS YOUR POINT
@Conqueror @rebeccaxhawaii She was just using that as an example
yes and i disagree with her example
It's not good to say Oh my gosh or oh my God . That's my point. I don't say OMG at all. I am a christian i don't believe in Mythology.
am I the only one in this post that's like... ._.
@Conqueror Look it's as simple as this. Obviously whoever put that there didn't do it to offend ANYONE. So therefore drop it. If you find it offensive tell the creators to remove it. You don't have to make a post about it. It's just a small problem that can be fixed easily. :)
well he is just speaking out about it because this is os feedback right?
I don't care if the person didn't do it to offend anyone, and he might not know it, but it offends God.
@Dani_Rose Yup
I believe that there is one God. I don't believe in science or evolution. I don't celebrate Halloween or Christmas or any other holiday besides Thanksgiving
Yes but I don't think that it being OS Feedback is going to change anything. I doubt that they even read this thing. So that's why you should just go to them and tell them that it is offensive.
http://prntscr.com/ai5abr As you can see there are different titles...but they are different too..
@SamsungFanBoy Creator of what?
why don't you celebrate christmas? It is for the day when Jesus was born
the site sign in page xD
ohhhh okay lol
It's supposedly the day he was born. But people just give each other presents without knowing what they're celebrating. Most people worship Santa Claus on the holiday.
SHOW ME IN THE BIBLE WHERE IT SAYS THAT JESUS WAS BORN IN DECEMBER. SHOW ME WHERE IT SAYS WE ALL GET PRESENTS. SHOW ME .
True @Conqueror
The Virgin Mary, pregnant with the son of God, would hence have given birth to Jesus nine months later on the winter solstice. From Rome, the Christ's Nativity celebration spread to other Christian churches to the west and east, and soon most Christians were celebrating Christ's birth on December 25
@Dani_Rose pm me please
Also God knows what OS is. He put people on this earth and they created things. He knows what EVERYTHING IS!!! Not just what is about him. So therefore he knows about Open Study and everything else you can think of. @Conqueror
Im not saying it is the exact day when he was born. and i agree with @Conqueror that most people don't know what it stands for. No one knows when he was born, so we celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25th. For me, it isn't about the presents. It is about celebrating the birth of my Lord and Savior
AMEN @Daniee_Bruhh
true @Daniee_Bruhh
I didn't say god wasn't omniscient.
But he is @Conqueror
Again, I never said he wasn't.
And he is also Omnipresent
And omnipotent.
I just have one question. @Conqueror . Did you purposefully put this up to make people debate of this?
I didn't say that you did. Also to stop this whole post in general Saying "Thank God" isn't using God's name in Vain. When they wrote that they seriously meant THANK YOU GOD FOR OPEN STUDY. You should be HAPPY not offended that they actually included God in that sentence. Most people don't wanna get involved with statements like that because everyone has different religions but OS actually did. Most places are banning stuff like that. SO........ To answer your question, No they aren't using God's name in Vain. Hope this helps you in the future love! @Conqueror
I agree @Daniee_Bruhh
That was said perfectly @Daniee_Bruhh
Again, God takes offense at an infidel taking his name in vain...what God are they talking about ? The real one or a fake one ?
...
there is only one GOD
