first, are you aware that 2/3 does not divide evenly into 3 1/2? There would be a remainder.

You could still try this: Draw an x-axis. Label it 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.
Starting at the origin (0), draw heavy lines of length 2/3. The first will end at 2/3, the second will end at 4/3, and so on. Mark 3 1/2. Mark the remainder. Show your work.
