Luke swam the first 300 meters at a rate of 30 meters per minute. He then relaxed and swam the last 200 meters at a rate of 25 meters per minute. How long did it take Luke to swim all 500 meters?

So we know that he swam the first part at 30 meters per minute for the first 300 meters so our equation would look like this....

so 300 divided by 30 equals 10

So it took him 10 minutes to swim the first part of the 500 meters....

Now in the second part he swam at 25 meters per minute for 200 meters so our equation looks like this...

\(\Huge{200=25m}\) So to find how long it took him to swim 200 meters we would divided 200 by 25...

So how long did he take to swim 200 meters?
