What type of solution has a balanced concentration within the cell, so there is a constant and equal flow of water in and out of the cell? hypotonic hypertonic isotonic diffusion 7. What is it called when a cell wraps the membrane around a particle to take it in as food or for other uses? diffusion osmosis exocytosis endocytosis 8. What is it called when a cell uses energy to expel substances from inside the cell into the environment surrounding? exocytosis endocytosis diffusion osmosis

Diffusion is the movement of particles from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. A hypotonic solution means there is more water on the outside of the cell than inside the cell, and water will move from the outside of the cell to the inside of the cell. A hypertonic solution means there is more water inside the cell than outside the cell, and water will move from the cell to the outside of the cell. An isotonic solution means there's an equal amount of water leaving and entering the cell. Endocytosis is when a particle from outside the cell enters the cell causing the cell to form a pocket around it packaging it in a vesicle filled with cytoplasm to be used within the cell. Exocytosis is when a vesicle with cytoplasm within the cell containing particles exits the cell joining with the cell membrane as the components are released outside of the cell.
