OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are all proteins polypeptides? Explain.

OpenStudy (universetoast):

Yes. A protein is usually composed of 20 amino acids. A polypeptide is an umbrella term for something that is composed of two or more amino acids. So, all proteins are polypeptides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually google says there are proteins made of only one amino acid so the sentence is wrong I checked it the day after asking the question

OpenStudy (universetoast):

Uh oh, sorry about that!

OpenStudy (universetoast):

But this website and my AP Bio class says otherwise: https://askabiologist.asu.edu/venom/building-blocks-protein

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says there are 21 amino acids that proteins can be made from but that doesn't mean its necessary to use all of them ;)

OpenStudy (universetoast):

OH, okay that makes more sense!
