OpenStudy (yumyum247):

Evaluate each of the following expressions. \[(-4)^0\]

OpenStudy (victor_2215):

?

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

is it one??

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

or zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -4 to the zeroth power?

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

when the power of -4 which is 1 multiply with 0, should it be one or 0??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's one

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

but anything multiplied with 0 is 0 right?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

It would be one, any umber that has 0 as an exponent automatically becomes 1.

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Yes but you're not multiplinh with 0. let's say instead of a zero there were a two. You wouldn't do -4 * 2 you would do -4 * -4.
