I need questions one and three

OpenStudy (freemap):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (freemap):

for part a on 1 I got 257=2.25x+1.50x=463.50 does that look right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Convert dollars to cents so that the numbers are integers. Solve the following simultaneous equations derived from the problem statement: { 225p+150d=46350, p+d=257 }

OpenStudy (freemap):

would I divide 46350 and 257 to solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply both sides of the second equation by 150 and then subtract the 2nd equation from the 1st. The d terms should subtract out. Then solve what is left for p.

OpenStudy (freemap):

d=153 p=104

OpenStudy (freemap):

@robtobey Thank you

Thank you for the medal. You might have to convert the pennies solution back to dollars.
