During WWII a movement called The Double Victory campaign began which was created by African Americans. It stood for Victory at home and abroad. This meant they hoped to win the war but also to gain civil rights at home through proving themselves and using the absence of many white male worker as an opportunity to gain more respect and lessen discrimination in society.
