OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Do you have a list of words?

OpenStudy (twistrose):

yeah and i have two more questions for this

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

If you can give me the words, I can help.

OpenStudy (twistrose):

the list is: auspicious introspection retrospect specimen specter spectrum speculate surveillance vigil vigilant

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Is this vocab?

OpenStudy (twistrose):

yes

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Okay. I'll start with ones I can pick out easily.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

surveillance Keeping a close eye on. Sentence number 2 of the police keeping the house under close....surveillance.

OpenStudy (twistrose):

ok

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

3. About the tomb.. and the death. I would probably go with vigil. A vigil is when you stay awake to either watch or pray, also a christian term as an eve of for something religious.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Sentence 4, the monks would be walking vigilantly, (softly, carefully) because they didn't want to harm anything. See how that works?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would like to comment on your answer for sentence four

OpenStudy (twistrose):

yeah i see

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

5. Since the athlete had so much training and talent, they were auspicious (favorable) to be the contender. Yes @Haksorin go ahead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Vigilantly means "Awake and Alert." , Or "Keenly watchful to detect danger.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A word that best I feel will fit with that sentence would be Auspicious

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Synonyms include ; watchful, observant, attentive, alert, eagle-eyed, hawk-eyed, on the lookout, on one's toes, on the qui vive. Quite frankly I do not see any other words that describe them to be careful. @Haksorin Auspicious means favorable.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Or prosperous. Either or.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It may also mean Prosperous

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That was just my opinion. You may continue.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Because they wish to harm no living things, Buddhist monks walk ___prosperous________ly to avoid stepping on insects. Doesn't make sense to me. :P

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

@Twistrose Which do you think?

OpenStudy (twistrose):

well um i think your right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Prosperously is an Adverb.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but your right, it doesnt fit

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

@Haksorin Your opinion is greatly noted. I just don't think that favorable or prosperous fits with monks trying to be obviously "careful" about not stepping on bugs.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

These vocab words can get confusing. I never much enjoyed such complexity when there is simplicity.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

1. Many religions encourage self-knowledge through meditation and ______________ Let me go through the words.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Since they are talking about meditation, I bet introspection, the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. (e.g soul-searching), is probably your best choice.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

There. I have answered them all. Any questions?

OpenStudy (twistrose):

i have two more

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

You may post.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

@Haksorin Do you agree with introspection? Seemed most appropriate for me.

OpenStudy (twistrose):

6. The botanical garden is trying to obtain at least one _________ of every native American tree. 7. The _______________of the nuclear war threatened the late twentieth century.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Same list of words?

OpenStudy (twistrose):

yes

OpenStudy (twistrose):

@Maddy1251

OpenStudy (twistrose):

nvm i think i have them
