The story takes place in Middle Earth and the main story of it is that a bunch of dwarves want to take back their home and riches from a dragon. The wizard Gandlaf shows them a Hobbit named Bilbo that can help them on the quest. Unlike in the movie, the orcs do not follow them around in the book. I can probably help you with this if you provided more info or your question.
